Plan Your Next Family Reunion at Bullwinkle’s & The Family Fun Center

We all have relatives we wish we could see more often. Maybe it’s a beloved uncle out on the East Coast who always made you laugh as a kid. Maybe it’s your Grandparents who just don’t travel as often anymore. Maybe you moved away from your hometown for and now you’re sorely missed back at the ranch. Whatever the reason for the distance, getting the whole family together in one place is always a special occasion. Family reunions are a rare opportunity to see all your distant relatives in one place, gathering around good food and good times!

people stood in a line holding bowling balls

At Bullwinkle’s & The Family Fun Center, we’re poised and ready to provide a venue and entertainment for the whole tribe. Here are just a few reasons you should plan your next family reunion at Bullwinkle’s & The Family Fun Center:

Play and Compete With Family Members

Our amusement center has plenty of options for you and your family to let loose and play! For a more laid back experience, you might enjoy hitting the links of our two miniature golf courses. The Memory Lane course offers throwbacks to the classic miniature golf courses of yore, featuring its very own miniature windmill. For a more contemporary feel, you can check out the Arctic Adventure! This Pacific Northwest-themed course is sure to please locals and visiting relatives alike.

For those more inclined to indoor entertainment, why not enjoy a few friendly frames of bowling? Our Bowlwinkle Lanes are ready and waiting for the family members looking to try their hand at one of the most time-honored parlor sports. It doesn’t matter if you’re a veteran of the lanes or just stepping out onto the hardwood for the first time, there’s no better way than to play with, or maybe against, family. Don’t worry, we’ll provide the shoes! And if you really need them, there’s no shame in bumpers.

Or maybe you’re not just after some friendly family competition. Maybe you’ve got a friendly rivalry with a sibling or cousin, and a reunion is the perfect setting for your next showdown. If so, our amusement center has plenty of ways for show off your skills!

The arcade offers plenty of one-on-one challenges, from shooting hoops to high-octane racing games. For a more team-based competition, look no further than our state-of-the-art laser tag arena! Fog machines, strobe lights, and music set the scene in this heart-pounding contest of speed and agility. Show your family who rules supreme! All out of love, of course.

    Thrill Seekers Welcome!

Do you have relatives who like to live life on the edge? We’ve got them covered! Our amusement center has more than just games, featuring plenty of thrills and chills just waiting for your family’s adrenaline junky.

First stop: the Drop N’ Twist! With heart-stopping drops and 360-degree spins, even the most stoic rider can’t help but scream with delight. Afterwards, why not try the Frog Hopper? There’s nothing quite as exciting as being shot up into the air, then bouncing your way back down.

Looking for a truly unique experience? Take a seat in the XD Theater! This singular, multidimensional experience can take you through a variety of 6D films, each of which offers their own experience.

Don’t forget to hit the Sling Shot as well! You may have been on a trampoline before, but you’ve never been on one like this. But for the true thrill seeker, we suggest our Screamin’ Swing. Climb up, strap in, and get ready to learn the true meaning of getting air.

For those looking to meet their need for speed, get ready to start your engines! The Go Kart track at our amusement center stands ready to meet the needs of any prospective racers. Grandma might be a slow driver on the freeway, but you never know what she might do on the racetrack!

If you’re looking to go head to head in a more literal sense, you’ll feel just at home in our Bumper Car arena. Ram, crash, and spin your way to victory! Depending on the weather, the Bumper Boats are a splash as well.

    Rest and Relaxation

If you’ve had enough excitement, or you’d rather not have any in the first place, you’re welcome to kick back and relax. Our restaurant has plenty of snacks and refreshments, as well as beer and wine for those of age. And when everyone is ready to come in for dinner, let us worry about setting the table. While everyone else is out enjoying our many attractions, we can put together the meal for the evening. Family reunions don’t come around that often; you should be out there enjoying it with everyone else!

  • How You Can Really Help With Your Child’s Homework

How You Can Really Help With Your Child’s Homework

Helping your child with their homework doesn’t have to require you spending hours of your free time hunched over a desk — all you need to do is support your child and set them on the right path with regards to what they are being asked to do. You shouldn’t be passive in the experience, though. Studies have shown that the more involved a parent is with homework, the better their child will perform academically.

To find the perfect balance when it comes to your child’s homework and to really support them with regards to it, you should put the advice laid out below into practice.

red pencil on top of mathematical quiz paper

Always have the tools and supplies they need at hand

One of your most important jobs in this instance is to harbour a focused environment in which your child can study and learn. They will only ever become distracted and detached from their homework tasks, however, if they haven’t got the tools and supplies they need to complete their work at hand at all times. This means that you have to go out there and invest in everything they need — from pencils to printers, they need it all. With regards to the latter, you can find a wide variety of printing supplies online — amongst a great deal of many other products, they stock HP 302 ink cartridge packs.

If you want to make distraction a thing of the past, you have to ensure that your child has everything they need to complete every homework task they are set.

Get to know your child’s teachers

Knowing your child’s teachers – more to the point, getting to know what their teachers are looking for — is half the battle won. This allows you to push your child towards giving answers that you know their teacher will value.

The best time to find out a little bit more about your child’s teacher is at parent-teacher conferences. At such events, you should make sure to ask questions about homework policies, and you should ask how you can be better involved with your child’s learning.

    Set a good example

No matter how old he or she is, your child will always look to you as their number one role model. You should set them a good example when it comes to their homework tasks, then, by being proactive with regards to facing them. If you express a keen interest in the work that they are being asked to do, chances are, they will follow suit.

No matter what side of the fence you stand on with regards to whether or not homework should be handed out, you need to be involved and lead by example. Sit down with them and be there to answer any questions they may have.

If you feel that your child is continuing to struggle with their homework no matter how much support you offer, don’t be afraid to seek additional assistance for them. This could mean taking to their teacher, or it could mean hiring them a tutor.

  • What to Do With Your Spare Room

What to Do With Your Spare Room

Do you have a spare room that you currently aren’t using for anything in particular? Maybe it’s a bedroom set up for guests that only gets used once in a while, or you’ve been using it for storage and it now looks like a dumping ground. All the space in your home is precious, so if you’re not making use of the spare room, have a ponder on how you could get more out of it.

    Home office

Even if you don’t work from home, it’s always useful to have a space where you can keep your desk, PC, and all your documents and files. It gives you somewhere peaceful to work on balancing your bank account or dealing with household admin tasks, and if you have kids, they could use it as a study space too. Having a home office enables you to keep all the paperwork and functional bits and pieces out of your living space so that you can keep the rest of your home tidier and more comfortable.

    Hobbies room

If you have a hobby, having all your equipment in one place makes it much easier to spend time enjoying yourself with your model trains, decoupage, painting, or whatever else you like doing. If you’re a keep fit enthusiast, you could create a home gym, or if you’re more of a book worm, then a library with all your books and somewhere comfortable to read in peace would be heavenly.

    Storage

If you’re wondering what to do with all the belongings you’ve been keeping in the spare room, you can get everything organised by using modern storage solutions that make the most of the space available overcrowding the room. Have a look at the variety of storage units, and you’ll be amazed at what you can fit into even the smallest space to keep everything neat and tidy.

    Dual purpose rooms

You might be feeling enthusiastic about these ideas, but still, want to retain the ability to use the room for guests who might be staying over. If you have a large room or your office or hobbies don’t take up much room, you can split the room into zones, so one area is still a bedroom, and the remainder is taken up with your gym equipment or desk.

If your room is smaller, or you want to use the whole space for your hobbies room or office, then wall beds are the perfect solution. These are full-sizebeds that are hidden in recesses in the wall when not in use, and that you can pull out when they’re needed. Look for the types of wall bed that are hidden behind a false wall, as you can have shelving on the wall and make use of the space, which revolves into the cavity where the bed is storedwhen you need to get the bedout.

Don’t waste the spare bedroom; it’sa valuable part of your home that you could be making far better use of, so start decluttering now and planning how you can use the space to improve your home.

  • Activities That Will Help You Pass the Time While You Are Waiting At the Airport

Activities That Will Help You Pass the Time While You Are Waiting At the Airport

Everyone has been in a situation where they have been at an airport for more hours than they would have preferred. Whether you got there too early or your flight has been delayed, you need to determine how to spend the next couple of hours that you have at your disposal. Luckily, there are a number of activities that will make the time pass by quickly.

For starters, you can take the time to look over your trip plans, in order to ensure that you have accounted for everything. Secondly, you can go prepared with a pack of cards that you can play with your family members in order to pass the time. If you forgot to pack these, don’t worry, because there are plenty of online games that you can choose from as well.

There are some airports that offer free activities, especially if you have younger children with you. Have you checked if yours does? Lastly, you can opt to get a meal at the airport and spend the next few hours chatting with your loved ones.

    Look over your trip plans

Do you feel as if you have done everything you could to plan the perfect family vacation, for instance? While you have a few hours at your disposal, you could always do some further research on your destination, and determine if there are any additional activities or tours that you want to participate in.

Bring a pack of cards with you

Whether you choose to bring a pack of traditional cards or some of the other family card games on the market, you are guaranteed to make the time pass by quickly at the airport. Plus, you can use this opportunity to try out a new card game that you have never played before.

    Play online games

Everyone carries a mobile phone with them at all times, and the good news about this is that you can easily pull up an online game within the span of a few seconds that will help you pass the time.

One popular option, for instance, is playing online fantasy sporting games. Take the example of Diamond Mind Baseball Online, a game where you can draft your own team of baseball players and play from anywhere, with the airport being the key example here.

Take advantage of free airport activities

There are certain airports that offer free activities, especially if you have a younger child with you. You never know if you are in one of these unless you ask someone that works there for their opinion, and you may even end up stumbling on a mini playground for your younger child.

    Get a meal

There are certain airports that offer renowned restaurants, and whether or not you find yourself in one of these terminals, there are always at least a few food joints that you can choose from. Why not spend your time eating something and chatting with your family for an hour or two?

Regardless of how you feel about airports, there are certain times when you will be stuck in one for longer than you’d like, especially depending on how many layovers you have and where you are going. Rather than spending this time twiddling your thumbs and constantly checking the time, you can opt for any of the activities mentioned, and it will be time to board the plane in no time.

  • Why Laminate Flooring Is The Obvious Choice For A Family Home

Having gone through a ’soft refurbishment’ (by soft refurbishment I mean everything apart from the kitchen and bathroom was replaced – I never want to see a skimmed wall EVER again!) I understand what it goes into all the house decisions and what worked for us as a family. Whilst I was frustrated with just how may choices had to be made at the time – I’d have given anything to click my fingers and it all be done – but I’m so glad that I took the time to really understand how we live and what would work well for us long term.

When it comes to picking the right flooring for your family home it can seem a minefield with so many differing options. I will admit that pre-Boo I was all about soft deep pile carpet in a complementary colour that differed in each room. However, motherhood happened and it soon became apparent that what I wanted when it came to interiors was vastly different. Laminate flooring was the obvious choice; it’s durability and practicality without breaking the bank make it perfect to be laid throughout the home.

white wooden side table beside white wall

A big tip for laminate flooring is to treat it like carpet, in the sense of choosing to have it fitted. whilst it can be a DIY project it’s way less stressful (take it from me) to pay to have it fitted. A professional can also suggest which way to lay, whether to but up to or fit under the skirting boards… decisions decisions decisions!

I really enjoy the versatility of Laminate – the only limit is your imagination, no more choosing from three artificial wood shades from when we were younger, the offering is so much better nowadays. I went for a timeless cherry wood look that is modern enough for our tastes without being dated.

Another big win for laminate flooring is just how practical it is. We’re a spilt drink a day kind of house and I can’t imagine just how many stains there would be dotted around the house if we had carpets.

Laminate flooring also serves as a perfect base for introducing textures into your home; the addition of rugs and runners gives depth to a room and allow for you to ‘switch up’ looks easily and without great expense.

What type of flooring do you have? Are you a fan of carpet or swear by Laminate? Has parenthood influenced your decision? Let me know in the comments below…
