    Packing For Me With Kaleidoscope

One of the biggest perks of being a travel blogger is that the call to pack a bag and head off on our travels – meaning I’ve got the whole packing thing down. However as most parents will know, once you have a child the focus of a holiday wardrobe shifts focus from you to the children. I lost count of how many beautiful summer dresses I’ve bought for Boo this spring and yet somehow I always seem to forget that I need clothes!

Kaleidoscope know me and my busy life all too well so asked me to take some time out and pick my favourite key summer holiday pieces from their latest collection in a bid to help me pack for me. The key is to always have pieces prepped and to hand ready to pack; it never takes me longer than 5-10 minutes to pack for a trip. The reality is that whilst I may be a super organised traveller it also comes down to the fact that as a busy mum I simply don’t have time. I need a holiday wardrobe that is made up of grab and go pieces that are versatile, practical and stylish.

A swimsuit is the best place to start when putting together your holiday look and this show stopping tie front halter-neck swimsuit in colour of the season: orange was a style no brainer. The tie front is a great solution for the bigger boobed of us and the one piece is practical for splashing round in the water and chasing Boo up and down the beach (who else classes this as cardio on holiday?!) Yet I wouldn’t feel out of place at a roof top pool party sans Boo.

Holiday starts at the airport – well for us at least, so what I wear to travel has to be three things: comfy, stylish and versatile as very often we take off from chilly London and (hopefully) land in much warmer climes. A soft denim dress is a holiday style staple and this one from Kaleidoscope is soft that I can see me wearing this all over the world and extra practicality bonus points for not being too short so perfect for playing sleep tetris with Boo while we both nap on the plane.

Talking of plane seat tetris, holidaying with Boo means I spend a lot of time running round as we make the most of our adventures exploring every minute we can, so as much as I would like to say that my summer wardrobe is entirely style eld would be doing a disservice to busy mums everywhere. I would never have imagined me to pick a patterned playsuit, but in reality this is a great holiday staple – the pattern works in its favour to help elevate it from a frumpy to summer statement and the oversized side pleats on the legs help to balance out a top heavy figure.

No holiday capsule wardrobe is complete without a pair of shoes – I can’t remember the last time I packed heels for a summer getaway, for me it’s all about style and comfort coming together and a pair of statement espadrilles is the perfect finishing touch to any outfit. I love these Ribbon Detail Espadrilles – they are the perfect example of how you can go from airport to holiday destination without changing, ad the ribbon detail makes then great for the evenings too. They do however come up rather small, so my advice is to size up for the perfect fit.

There you have my capsule summer holiday wardrobe for the busy mum. You don’t have to become a slave to fashion and start lugging round ridiculously heavy suitcases to keep your style cool this summer, it’s all putting together key pieces that suit you and your destination all the while being able to partake in an impromptu skipping competition along the beach, like I do with Boo.

Disclosure: Kaleidoscope gifted me a selection of clothing for the purpose of this review.

We seem to have escaped the dreaded rain (for now) so let’s enjoy all the summer we can, while we can…

First up on this week’s want list is this gorgeous ERES Les Essentiels Cachette halter neck swimsuit – I’m normally a blue tone red type of girl but the summer calls for orange reds and I love how a seemingly simple swimsuit can be such a statement piece. Who said choosing a one piece was boring.

My day to day jewellery is pretty low key, a silver B pendant, two pairs of studs, yet it’s been a long time since I wore a bracelet or bangle everyday – this Monica Vinader Linear Diamond Toggle Chain Bracelet is currently on sale and is a great mix of classic and contemporary with just enough understated bling for that polished look.

It’s been a while since I treated myself to a new handbag – a predicament I really must rectify! I stumbled across this Ballet Sommet Medium Carry All and it was a pink love at first sight, there’s something oh so Sketch about it – and yes it may be int he £1000+ bracket but it’s size makes it practical, well that’s my justification and I’m sticking to it.

It’s no secret that dresses are one of my favourite go to pieces, they instantly make an outfit and I’m even more of a fan of dresses like the River Island Light Blue Layer Cami Midi Dress as it can so easily be layered (kind of a must with the British summers!) and works well with both trainers or heels.

Talking of versatile, despite their outlandish clashing of leopard print and neon, the Hula Espadrilles by Air & Grace London are one of those shoes that will go with anything and can easily become this season’s stand out piece for off duty style – and with memory foam cushioning soles, they’ll see you through until the early hours!

I fear my addiction to Chanel may be soon back in full swing, when I was younger I wouldn’t think twice about spending a minimum of a £100 per month on Chanel beauty and skincare; fast forward to motherhood and household bills really should take priority, yet recently I’ve been discovering just how premium Chanel products really are – from effortless to Soleil De Tan Chanel to their limited edition make up ranges – The Rouge Coco Gloss in 714 Caresse and seeing as it’s a limited edition shade I can’t imagine it will be long until I add this to my Chanel collection.

Another premium beauty brand I struggle to resist is Bulgari, I think it has plenty to do with their timeless elegance with some of the simplest ingredients that create a beautiful and lingering scent, the Bulgari Rose Goldea perfume is no exception.

Keeping one eye firmly on the clouds I’m still on the hunt for a waterproof that’s good at keeping out the water while keeping me in with with the style crowd. New Look have some great rain jackets and I spotted this new colour way, yes it may not be a summery bright but it’s neutral tone means it goes with more, winner!

    Happy Wanting!

And just like that our summer seems to be blown out of town by the ridiculous gales and downpours of a British weather system. Trying my hardest not to feel to glum about the turn of weather I’ve decided to be a proactive mama and seek out the best bits to brighten my week.

I’ll admit that I’ve never really invested in umbrellas (who can resist the £2 bargains as you walk into Primark) but I think it’s time to be a true grown up an invest in one that costs more than £10. I’ve searched out the totes XTRA STRONG Auto Open/Close Thin in black and it seems the prefect introduction to adulting -fingers crossed this banishes the drowned rat look!

Regardless of the weather bright nails are such a classic summer look and instantly lift your outfit (and your mood!) I’ve been doing my own gel nails at home for months now but I keep hearing great things about the CIATÉ London Mani Marker Nail Polish Pen – super simple and results that wow and last, the shade beauty queen is the perfect summer bright and will stylishly clash with almost outfit.

I would be a poor blogger if I didn’t at some point in 2017 mention the phenomenally successful launch of The Ordinary. Coverage Foundation – yes it sold over a quarter of a million units in its first week and will probably be forever out of stock but the reviews are so good that for a now I just have to have faith in the ‘e-mail me when back in stock’ button.

If you’ve been following my Instagram Stories you will have seen that I bought one of my wants from last week – the Adidas slides, and as predicted they are super comfy and I’m finding excuses to wear them with everything – being in the Adidas store on Oxford Street reminded me of two things: 1. I really am a mum, I described the guy who served me as young man! 2. I actually really like the clean lines and simplicity of the classic Adidas pieces so next stop on the return love in with Adidas is an Adidas Originals Boyfriend Trefoil print tee.

Leaving my urban style vibes behind, I’m giving all my love to this Selina Embroidered Dress from Whistles; it ticks all the boxes of effortless on trend style, and as silly as it sounds, it even looks super comfy!

I tried the Dune Abbigail in rose gold on a few weeks back and was amazed that me, Rosie the eternal trainer lover could actually walk in them! It takes a special heel to capture my heart (and walking ability) and the outlandish finish isn’t a hinderance to me – instead I like to think of them as a unique style investment 😉

I’m keeping with the metallic theme and finishing on a high the beauty that is the Mango Flowy Pleated Dress – available in black also, the metallic silver is calling me to pair it with white trainers and a denim jacket for the ultimate in off duty style when travelling and it would be perfect for showing ff a tan, it hasn’t taken much to convince me this is a need not a want…

    Happy Wanting!

Want It Wednesday | 31st May

Greetings from Mummy and Boo HQ, I’ve had a great week of catching up with fiends aka wandering through the endless delights of Zara and the like and I’ve collated the very best of what I’ve spotted.

First up is the M&S dress of the summer, designed to suit everyone I’ll admit that I’ve been a bit late to get on board with this self titled capsule piece of the season – but I’ve warmed to its high neckline and potentially awkward hemline – this is a piece I can see me wearing year in year out, it’s standout but in a relaxed way and as with all dresses I pick, it pairs well with statement sandals and trusty trainers.

Talking of awkward hem lengths, I’ve steered clear of cropped wide leg trousers and culottes thinking that they would be a silhouette no no but as we begin our love/hate relationship with the British summer they seem to be the stylish yet sensible choice. These crop wide leg trousers by Topshop are ticking all my summer dressing dilemma boxes.

Ok so, here’s my slice of unrealistic luxury (hey a mama can dream) – the Cartier Love Bangle is one of those grown up timeless pieces that I’ve lusted for a long long time, yes it’s unlikely that I’ll be treating myself anytime this decade but the simplicity and unmistakable Cartier traits make this the ultimate brand swag.

One luxury brand that you can indulge in a slice of is Chanel beauty – I’m enjoying falling back in love with Chanel at the moment and the Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Colour Blush in No. 42 is as dreamy in real life as it looks. Working perfectly with Soleil de Tan it’s an easy way to look effortlessly ready during the summer months and helps strike the balance between barefaced beauty and flawless without looking (and feeling) cakes in make up.

I love the lightness of make up and beauty that comes with summer; the new Hydra Genius range from L’Oréal is a skin drink and promises to deliver up to 72 hours of hydration all while being as light as water, a surprisingly budget friendly way to sample the undeniable benefits of asian inspired skincare.

& Other Stories is one of those brands that has quietly developed cult like status – and with their sheer shirt, it’s easy to see why, it can be as minx like or mum (yes I really did just coin that phrase) with added cami or statement bra.

Sliders: surely a strong contender for the word of 2017, they’re everywhere and one of those trends that has me hopelessly undecided as to what style to take the pop fashion plunge with. I’ve come full circle with the evolution of the poolside and urban jungle accessory, the unapologetic sporty vibe of the Addidas Adilette Slides make them the ‘wood for the trees’ choice.

Zara I think has made an appearance in pretty much every single Want It Wednesday since it’s launch las year so much so that it won’t be long until I’ll probably start a monthly roundup of all the best bits available at the Spanish high street stylista. This vinyl tote is everything we’ve come to expect from Zara – fun, practical, grown up with a hint of two fingers up to the world; their play on textures, shapes and marrying of different fashion genres make them everything.

Whether it’s online, in the shops, splurging or window shopping enjoy shopping this week…

    Happy Wanting!

  • Want It Wednesday | 24th May

Want It Wednesday | 24th May

The sun is shining, I repeat the sun is shining and this week’s Want It Wednesday is all about the summer – yes I’m completely aware that this week of heat could be all we have but I’m excited nonetheless.

Kicking us off is this striped ruffle dress by Mango, I’d like to say that with summer comes dresses but the truth is that I’m a big fan of dresses all year round and the warm weather allows me to widen my scope when it comes to shopping for dresses. The classic combo of white and light blue screams relaxed summer vibes and the ruffles add just enough luxe to this otherwise understated outfit in one.

It’s important to remember that your skin needs love all year round and a recent trip to Chanel’s beauty counter introduced me to the AMAZING Chanel Hydra Beauty Micro Crème – it contains camellia micro droplets preserving the extract in its purest forma and it didn’t disappoint, I could feel a noticeable difference on my skin all day, can you tell that I’m 90% of the way to convincing myself that I need to buy this!

Once you’ve shown your skin some Chanel love it’s time to show it off with Huda Beauty 3D Highlight Palette – the oh so anticipated secret to a perfectly highlighted face has finally launched and I’m so excited for another product to be added to Huda’s collection. The pigments are insane and the queen herself of highlighted to perfection skin is the one to go to for flawless summer skin.

You don’t need to be down with the kids to recognise that sliders and statement tees are enjoying a popularity unseen since the 90s and my view is if you’re going to try to keep up with the young and their street style then you’ve got to big or go home. By big I mean Gucci and their washed t-shirt with Gucci print. Yes it’s ridiculously expensive (the first thing I did when seeing it cost £285 if mentally calculate how many weekly shops that equated to!)

Talking of trends and back to the reality of high street fashion, River Island are on fire this season with translating catwalk trends into wearable and just importantly affordable pieces. I am absolutely in love with this White Long Sleeve Embroidered Top – the detailing is insane and at less than half price I’m adding it to my basket as we speak, No sooner had I fallen in love with the top did I spot the River Island Pom Pom Sliders, come one just the name tells you they’re everything – finally a pair of sliders that don’t scream white sock, ha!

They say make hay while the sun shines but I prefer to shop shop for weather appropriate fashion…

    Happy Wanting!
