Dentyl Active Enamel Restore: Stinkies roadtest
I’m pretty sure that if I asked our family dentist they would offer me a designated parking space. What with a one Stinky seeing the orthodontist every three weeks and the other two constantly back and forth to see if they’re ‘ready’ for the brace waiting list I spend a lot of time there.
For me oral hygiene and health is really important to us. However I’m not too sure it features high up the list of the Stinkies priorities. So when Dentyl Active offered to send us a sample of Dentyl Active Enamel Restore I was excited to see how it would help in their daily mouth care routine.
The first thing that they noticed when they saw it was Dentyl’s distinctive two tone colour in fact the two phase working action combining a water based antibacterial agent and an oil based solution with natural essential oils. The stinkies looked at me almost as if it was a trap when I told them to shake it well before they used it to make sure the two solutions mixed properly. It’s safe to say that there has been shaking aplenty when its time to brush their teeth.
All dental detail aside I’m pretty smitten with the pretty glittery purpleness of it!
Seeing is believing and with Dentyl Active Enamel Restore you won’t believe your eyes as the debris removed by the mouthwash can be seen in the basin as it is shows up in deposits – cue lots of “Cool” from the Stinkies and a resounding “Eww, No don’t try and scoop it out!”
An added bonus is that it contains double the amount of fluoride compared to other leading brands and its alcohol free meaning it’s safe for children from the age of 7, so being suitable for 5 out of 6 of our Brady Bunch is not bad at all.
Overall the Stinkies enjoyed using it and anything they helps them become more interested and involved in oral care is good news. Icy mint taste is not too strong which for me is often a real problem as I’m not keen when the taste is overbearing. And hey anything that adds a little sparkle – literally – to my morning routine is worth a try!
Alcohol free Dentyl Active Enamel Restore costs £4.07 for 500ml and is available from supermarkets and pharmacies nationwide.
Disclosure: We were sent a bottle of Dentyl Active Enamel Restore free of charge for review. No payment was received and all opinions are 100% honest we promise.

Boo’s foot biscuits
Biscuits in the shape of a foot with your name iced on them, what every little girl needs for her baptism – right? If you’re Boo then yes! Id got the idea after seeing the same thing on the internet (I really should get the hang of Pinterest so I can share all my pretty internet finds!). I thought they’d make for lovely alternatives to cake wrapped in a napkin and a yummy treat too!
Now for the hard part – to find a company who cam make my idea a reality. I could find plenty of places to have a cake made to order but biscuits were proving a little trickier. I typed cake and biscuit maker into the search bar and allowed Google to take over with its clever location thingymajig that shows results in order of distance from you; seeing as I live in the shire that is Lincoln which in comparison to London is as bleak as the moon so I wasn’t surprised to see that one of the top results was Susan’s Cakes in Newark over 15 miles away. A quick click on her website and I knew this was the lady who could create the Boo foot biscuits.
I e-mailed Susan with a million questions which she was only too happy to answer, never once getting annoyed with what must have seemed like the millionth tweak!
The Friday came before #BoosBaptism and me and Boo headed over to Susan’s house to collect the biscuits – I’m sure you’ll agree they look gorgeous and Boo’s guests can account or their taste matching their looks!
Ok so there’s no flashy showroom or mutlibuy offers but for me there’s something lovely about ordering biscuits from a lady who makes cakes, almost as if a reminder of my childhood and now the conundrum is finding an excuse to order some more yummy biscuits!

World Prematurity Day – Operation Yummy Mummy… Again!
You all know about Boo’s birth – how Daddy wasn’t there and how my experience was pain free; both were due to her being 6 weeks premature.
Yesterday was World Prematurity Day #WPD but Boo was in hospital with yet another Health Hurdle and it all looks as if it’s linked to her being a premie. So you’ll just have to do with this post a day late!
I could go through every detail of the days and weeks leading up to the birth of Boo but I’ve learnt that it won’t change a single thing. I wasted precious hours when she was newborn trying to blame myself: did I do too much? Did I not recognise the signs? Should I have bought myself a step by step pregnancy book? The real answer is that over 60,000 babies are born premature in the UK each year so I’m sure I’m not alone in having these feelings.
It took a very kind doctor during the early hours of Boo’s third day when I was weeping away (Baby blues with a premature baby is not a good look I can assure you!) who sat me down and said what’s done is done you can’t put her back but what you can focus on is giving her the best possible start and after a cup of tea and another five minutes of crying that’s exactly what I did.
We are blessed that Boo had no major health issues and only needed a kick start in life with the help of an NGT, treatment for Jaundice and temperature regulation. Watch this video to see how far premature babies really can come!

Smiling and crying is no easy task! People often ask how it feels to have a premature baby and the answer is just the same I still cried with joy when I held her for the first time, I was amazed at just how tiny her feet were and how beautiful she was! Yes it was an emotional rollercoaster but throughout it all with the help of the fantastic neonatal team at Lincoln Hospital I never lost sight of why we were there, for our beautiful baby Boo.
Ever since we came home with our mini bundle I wanted to help in some raise awareness of premature babies and their families; support is vital not only in the early days but for the months and years ahead so I’ve decided to run the 2013 Lincoln 10K in aid of Bliss. I’ve run the race twice previously with last year being part of my Operation Yummy Mummy but this year I’m determined to come in under 80 minutes (stop sniggering I’m the wrong side of a size 14 so at the moment I’d be lucky to do it in less than 3 hours!). However I’m under no illusion that my plans to get back into running and shifting some serious weight won’t really happen until 5 weeks before the race when I start waking through the night with nightmares of not finishing the race!
If anyone would like to donate a personal trainer/ home gym etc I will gladly pay you in home baked cakes – the irony!!!
I will get round to setting up a Just giving Page but in the meantime you can follow my efforts here and with #operationyummymummy over on twitter.
