Toshiba LX830 Review

I love tech any which way so when Toshiba asked me to review their LX830 all in one PC, I was a happy lady.

At the moment I run the Mummy and Boo empire (among other things) using an orchard of Apple products with the hub being the dinkiest MacBook Pro. Now don’t get me wrong I love my mac but recently I’ve been wondering whether it’s time to get a large screened desktop for the home office.

I haven’t used a windows device for well over a year so I was surprised after 5 minutes of setting up just how easy the LX830 was to use. The gigantic screen (lots and lots of inches – 23!) looks more like a slick TV than a pc especially with the discreet wireless keyboard and mouse; if I was to do some serious work on it I would have to upgrade them, although that’s personal choice and the ones that came with the pc are prefect for family surfing.

I’m no stranger to wide screened desktops, but what really sets this apart from the others is that it’s touchscreen – imagine a pumped up tablet on your table and you’re about half way to understanding just how awesome it is! I wasn’t too sure if touchscreen would work away from the phone or tablet scenario – I mean who needs touchscreen when working on a hefty excel document.

However I quickly discovered that the touchscreen is not designed to replace the mouse but to add another layer to the family pc. So whilst the mouse remains for most word and excel functions when it comes to surfing the web with Boo or playing a game together, the touchscreen really comes into it’s alone allowing both of us to interact fully with whatever we’re doing.

The sheer size of the screen made for amazing Skype calls, something that Boo is an expert on and when I enjoyed an early night, it was perfect for catching up on a film or too.

Toshiba LX830

If you’re all about the mac, the reservations you’ll have will be about the operating system (that said I absolutely love Office 365 and think the everyone in the world should have it!!) and not the actual computer. An all in one that looks like a beast but works like a pro is surely a welcome addition to a busy family and a strong contender for the Mummy and Boo HQ.

Disclosure: We were sent the Toshiba LX830 for review. No payment was received and all opinions are 100% honest we promise.
