Throwing It Back To The 90s with The Spice Girls and Walkers

Hands up who else has a constant case of 90s nostalgia – it was the decade that made me, with a big part being the Spice Girls. Whether your favourite was Posh (mine… obviously), Sporty, Baby, Ginger or Scary there was a persona for every girl and there’s no denying that the girl band and the Girl Power movement that came with them was a great breath of fresh air

From buying every single magazine that had them on the cover – I’m looking at you Smash Hits and Top of the Pops! – to learning the dance routine to Spice Up Your Life with my sister one rainy week in the summer holidays; Spice Girls was a massive part of my life and so much more than just another group. A big part of the Spice Girls was their well-known brand partnerships, one of my favourites being with Walkers… well guess what: after 20 years they’re back together and are searching for the ultimate Spice Girls superfan with the Walkers’ Best Ever Fan Challenge.

SUPERFAN CHOOSES WALKERS OVER SPICE GIRLS IN NEW AD

The 90-second ad premiered on ITV during the ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ ad break. The mini-film shows the lengths some people will go to avoid sharing their irresistible Walkers crisps—even rejecting the Spice Girls. It follows the Spice Girls heading to surprise a superfan, with everything going well until Baby Spice leans in for a crisp and discovering not even a Spice Girl can tempt someone to share their favourite crisps.

With cameos from The Gogglebox cast plus others, it’s super surreal to see the Spice Girls aka the 90s come together with modern-day pop culture. I loved watching it with Boo and explaining just how big a deal the Spice Girls were when I was her age; such a trip down memory lane with plenty of nostalgia.

So I suppose the big question we all want to know is… which spice girl are you? You’ll find me dusting off my Spice Girl space trainers, ha! Oh and reacquainting myself with all the moves to Stop Right Now.
