Premier League Primary Stars… One Year On | AD

Football and poetry go together like… up until learning about the amazing work of Premier League Primary Stars I would have said chalk and cheese but now I know just how well they go together and how important each one can be to the other. I was invited along to the Premier League Primary Stars One Year On evening that celebrated the outstanding success of the first yer of the iniative. The brief was simple if not every so slightly colossal: to provide 10,000 schools with a host of inspirational materials that use the appeal of the Premier League and professional football clubs to inspire learning. They absolutely smashed their target by engaging with 15,442 schools (out of 20,000 nationwide)

I’ve previously written about Boo’s passion for football so it’s great to see an initiative that doesn’t focus on just one avenue of interests but instead seeks to be inclusive to everyone.

“Be ambitious, be inspiring, be committed and be fair” is a great starting point for children to be fulfilled and happy whilst being part of a wider community; these are in fact the words behind the Premier League Primary Stars project that is committed to inspiring primary school children to learn, be active and develop important life skills:

Be Ambitious – Work hard and never give top on your goals.
Be inspiring – Set a great example to others.
Be committed – Work well with others and as a team.
Be fair – Treat people equally and work with others.

We learnt about Gethyn, just one of the many inspiring stories to come from the first year of Premier League Primary Stars…

The Premier League Primary Stars held a poetry competition and were blown away by the staggering amount of entries and to such an amazingly high standard.

A collection of poems has been published in the Try Try Again Poems by The Premier League Writing Stars – it’s an inspiring collection of poetry by children (with a sprinkling of adults, who aren’t a patch on the kids!)

Football is so much more than a game, it’s a gateway to so much more and thanks to Premier League Primary Stars with their resources for schools and families children are always first.
