Operation Yummy Mummy: The Lincoln 10k

Despite numerous calls from loved ones and all those with an ounce of common sense not to do the 10K on Sunday; I donned my Lycra and headed to the start line for the 16th Annual Lincoln 10K Road Race.

Behind the smile I was panicking. I’d hardly done any training in the last two weeks due to having a beastly cold and here I was lined up with over five thousand people about to embark on over 6 miles of running.

My game plan was simple. Finish it and survive. I crossed the start line in haze of denial, as the crowd were carrying me along at a pace that was a tad bit adventurous. Boo and my Mama were there whooping and cheering me on my way which really did help, after all I needed all the encouragement to get me through the race!

Less than 90 minutes later ( I’m not in too much of a hurry to check the actual time!) I crossed the finish line elated and exhausted. I did it and not a moment too soon!

Whilst I am no Paula Radcliffe I definitely have fallen back in love with running. The middle 5K were enjoyable which is really what it’s all about. Yes not only do I want my pre Boo body back but I want to change my shape so #operationyummymummy is by no means over and I’m sure there’s plenty more pain to come for the eventual gain!

Who knows I may even go for a run in the morning.
