  • A Bootacular Halloween Tickled Pink Fancy Dress

A Bootacular Halloween Tickled Pink Fancy Dress

Another year, another Halloween to prepare for; Boo absolutely loves Halloween – let’s be honest, with a name like Boo, it must seem that Halloween was made for her. This year she’s been invited to two parties, we’re trick or treating on the Saturday, hosting our own Halloween party on the Monday plus the small matter of us heading to Universal Resort, Orlando in the half term. We all know just how seriously the Americans take Halloween celebrations so Boo’s in got a spooky spectacular and I need to up my game when it comes to her costume.

Tickled Pink Fancy Dress got in contact to see about Boo picking a couple of costumes for their kid’s Halloween costume collection. Does a child really need more than one fancy dress I hear you ask? Had you asked me a year ago I would have been inclined to say no, however with Boo’s Halloween social calendar becoming busier year after year – it’s a logical solution; she’s still partial to displaying her happiness by wearing party food…ha!

So now came the serious busy of Boo picking her fancy dress costumes. There was lots of discussions with her best friend so as not to clash but to compliment each other because you know how important it is to get it right – Halloween is a serious business when you’re 5! Boo’s obsessed with Monster High so this Frankie Girl costume was her first choice, and then she chose the Girls Gothic Vampiress outfit – now I think it’s fair to say that they didn’t have her size which was of little significance t Boo who informed me that Grandma could always fix it with her needle and thread – love how Boo knows that sewing is not a service that this mama offers.

The delivery process was really quick and simple with an e-mail letting me know when our items were dispatched. They arrived and Boo was in a frenzy and couldn’t wait to try them on (truth be told I had a hard time getting her to keep still to try and take a photo, and then she tried to plead her case as to why she should be allowed to wear the Frankie Girl costume to bed!!!) We knew that the Vampiress dress would be too big but as you can see, with some clever pinning at the back it looks really good and the bonus is she’ll fit into it next year.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality, fancy dress doesn’t have to cost the earth to be good quality that helps to make each occasion unforgettable and with Boo’s Halloween fancy dress costumes from Tickled Pink she’s set for a Bootacular time.

Disclosure: Tickled Pink very kindly sent us the Halloween fancy dress costumes. All opinions are our own.

  • Long Haul In Flight Saviours

It’s less than two weeks until we jet off to Orlando with Universal Resort and Virgin Holidays. I’m no stranger to long haul and with many years of jumping on planes and treating them like buses I’ve come to know what works and what doesn’t. Forget fashion, long haul is all about being comfortable and helping to reduce the impact of changing timezones on your body. It always makes me laugh when you see people turn up for transatlantic flights in heels and dresses… c’mon – embrace comfy natural fabrics, the only runway at the airport is the one you take off from. Here’s my long haul in flight saviours:

M&S Autograph Cashmere Hoodie and Joggers
This has to be the holy grail of long haul comfort whilst still maintaining a modicum of style. We all know cashmere is the comfiest and softest material you can wear, and I love the relaxed fit, perfect for airport lounging and sleeping during the flight.

The White Company Cashmere Bed Socks
Keeping it cashmere with these bed socks from The White Company, I have a strict routine on long haul: get seated then take my shoes off and put these bad boys on, warm toes comfort and for me it really helps with reducing flight swelling. Plus the pink hues are just perfect.

    Sleepmask
I’m a big fan of sleepmasks, and are a must have on long haul flights, in fact I’d go as far to say that you could crack one out even on european flights! Travelling on my own with Boo means that it’ll be non stop once we land with no down time, so once I’ve got Boo settled on the plane, it’s vital that I get some sleep so we can hit the ground running with plenty of energy for our Orlando adventures.

    Neutrogena Face Wipes
Another thing I do the minute I get on plane, is take my make up off. And whilst I really advise about not using wipes day to day (I’m always banging on about how bad they are for your skin) these Neutrogena wipes are perfect for long haul and they’re kind to your skin. And yes in case you’re wondering I do reapply a full face of make up just before landing.

    Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream
Once I’ve taken off my make up I smother my face with the beauty hero that is Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream; it’s magic like powers mean you can step off a plane looking more rested and refreshed with great skin. I also put some on Boo as flights are so dehydrating for our skin.

    Water Bottle
Ok so this one is kind of a cheat because you don’t need to take a water bottle on board with you (erm anyone else suddenly in love with this S’well gold water bottle… NEEDING!) but I cannot stress how important it is to drink loads and loads of water during your flight -it’s also a good idea to up your water for the week before to hydrate you as much as possible before. The longer the flight, the more of a toll it takes on your body and when we’re dehydrate we’re tired and sluggish so actually if you don’t drink enough you won’t enjoy your holiday as much, it’s a no brainer!

So there you have my long haul in flight saviours. What are you in flight travel must haves? Effortless style is what long haul is all about, it’s about making the flight time a mini bit of me time; as long as Boo cooperates!

  • Enjoying the Shhh With Sleepbear

    Enjoying the Shhh With Sleepbear

It’s no secret how much importance I place on getting a good nights sleep, without it I’m like a bear with a sore head… literally. Sleepbear are a brand new mattress company offering sumptuous comfort with their three layer system using pure latex in both their mattresses and pillows (everyone I know who’s made the switch to a latex pillow says they’re a sleep game changer!).

    Tired-mama-needs-her-sleep

The lovelies at Sleepbear know about my love affair with sleep so they sent me a bunch of sleep goodies to help me enjoy the shhh! First up I’m a big fan of sleep masks; before Boo was born I had worn one religiously every night since I was 14 and now that Boo’s older and getting up less in the night, I’m looking forward to being able to start using one again. You can’t beat a comfy oversized tee to sleep in and this one says it like it is! Grey is my favourite colour and I’m sure the postie will approve – seeing as he only ever knocks when I’m in bed… he must think that I never leave the house, the shame!!

    Sleepbear-latex-mattresses-and-pillows

Sleepbear are so confident that you’ll love their mattresses and pillows that you have 100 risk-free nights to fall in love with Sleepbear; plus there’s a 10 year guarantee. Great peace of mind.

They also do their bit for the polar bears… It’s great to see a brand who from the start want to give something back:

“At Sleepbear we want to give something back, so every year we take part of our profits and donate them to Polar Bears International who are the only conservation organisation whose sole passion and focus is to conserve polar bears and the sea ice they depend upon.”

From UK sizing to European dimensions, Sleepbear have the mattress and perfect nights sleep for you.

  • Want It Wednesdays | 12th October

I’m really getting into the routine of Want It Wednesdays, I love how throughout the week I am looking out for those standout pieces and that are worthy of been included and this week and I kind of felt like I was struggling at first but actually where we really are getting into the swing of autumn winter trends there’s just so much out there it’s just about changing your mindset from thinking about summery bits to thinking about layers and textures – I don’t about you but with winter comes the opportunity to play with opulent colours, materials and cuts.

I’m going to get straight to the point with the Versace bathrobe… indulge me in this ridiculously over the top opulence, there is a back story. One of my FB friends (Hey Alisia!) shared Bruno Mars’ 24K Magic video and we both loved the Versace bathrobe, which unfortunately isn’t available as part of their ready to wear collection so I had to improvise. It’s excessive, unnecessary but it’s Versace and I love it and want it.

Returning to normality, this quilted Lousana cross body bag from Aldo is all types of cool – it’s crazy yet somehow will be a bag that you could pull out of your wardrobe again and again and still be excited to see it. This floral embroidered longline shirt from New Look may seem as if I’m clinging onto summer, but I am because we’re off to Universal Resort Orlando in less than two weeks and this would be a great piece for our travels – I’d probably pair it with converse and wear it as dress for a day of outlet shopping.

Now my Want It Wednesday is normally finalised on a Monday, but I couldn’t resist adding this screw horseshoe bracelet by Bacoca Boutique as a fashionably late entry, it reminds me of Vivienne Westwood Jewellery and is one of the pieces that I just know would compliment and elevate my everyday outfits.

    Bacoca-Boutique-Screw-Horseshoe-Bracelet

The Tulle Tiger T-Shirt from Zara ticks pretty much every singly trend box you can think of yet somehow still manages to pull off the effortless style without even a hint of trying, bravo Zara

Ok so the inner Sloane may be escaping here but these Russell and Bromley Vivacious bow trim court are literally my life’s goal… And do you know what? They work with jeans and Kenzo sweater (c’mon what did you expect I am a product the 80s after all!) and also the more classic black shift dress – they’re granny with bling, just my style!

Last but by no means least is the Crème de la Mer moisturising soft cream, at £110 for a 30ml pot it’s at the top of the luxe beauty offering but with the weather well and truly meh it’s an investment that is seemingly more and more needed to fight the dreaded effect of winter on my face.

As usual let me know your favourites, what you’re like, wanting and needing.

    Happy Wanting!

We’re Off To Universal Orlando Resort with Virgin Holidays | Travel Tuesday

Welcome to Travel Tuesday, the new weekly feature on the blog that will see me share our adventures, wanderlust list and travel must haves. And what a way to kickstart than with the most exciting news. Yesterday we were invited to Universal Orlando Resort, Florida with Virgin Holidays and we’re traveling in less than two weeks… WOW!!!

    universal-resort-florida-family-travel-blogger-review

After jumping round like a child and pinching myself yesterday evening I decided to tell Boo just before bed (ok I admit, rookie mistake – it took her nearly and hour to calm down, who can blame her!!)

Here’s the video of me telling her…

I’ll be sharing our itinerary as I learn what amazing adventures await us as and when I find out. So my big question is, have you been to Universal Resort Orlando? Do you have any tips? I’ll be travelling on my own with Boo so I’m looking at getting the most out of our time there and what they have to offer modern family set ups.

Bring on the fun, sun and adventure with Universal Resort Orlando and Virgin Holidays!

Disclosure: We are set to be guests of Universal Orlando Resort and Virgin Holidays, all opinions are my own.
