With the weather set to be a scorcher over the next week, we will inevitably like most families be spending most of our time in the Garden. I’m not going to lie my talents for gardening are strictly limited to cutting the grass and sweeping the deck; however m biggest skill when it comes to the garden is entertaining. Anyone who knows me, knows that I’m the queen of party planning and I just love any excuse to crack out the bunting and choose a cake!

With Boo’s birthday in July we’re lucky enough that it’s always warm and sunny so we tend to have any family celebrations in the garden – with her party being on another day. With young ones, the garden is the go to place for fun in the sun. WorldStores invited us to share our favourite Family Garden Moment.

I had literally hundreds of photos to choose from, plenty with me as a child but in the end there was no contest – it had to be this fabulous snap of Boo on her first birthday. Boo was enjoying her first experience of a paddling pool complete with snazzy swimwear, ghettofabulous sunglasses and a pout that would rival Kate Moss.

What makes this my favourite family garden moment is that whenever I look at it, I’m instantly transported back to the day – the sheer happiness of Boo exploring the garden; we’d not long got back from collecting her birthday cake and the barbecue was heating up ready for a mini celebration. I can even remember the smells from the garden and the feeling of the hot sun as I sat with Boo on the grass and played,

They say the best thing about memories is making them and I completely agree, our garden is where summer as a family really comes alive.

Does Disney have anything to offer me apart from the childrens films that I when I watch with Boo? Ok so yes I secretly love Frozen, Sofia the First, Tangled and lets not forget my childhood classics – Aladdin anyone? However when I was invited to an exclusive pre-release screening of Disney’s Tomorrowland last month, I was interested to see what Disney had to offer it’s older (8+) audience.

The film is action packed from the beginning and if I’m honest, it reminds me of the mystery and suspense I associate with films such as ET from my childhood. Whenever Casey Newton (Britt Robertson) touches a lapel pin with the letter T on it, she finds herself transported to Tomorrowland, a city filled with hige robots and sleek buildings. The gifted youngster recruits the help of scientist Frank Walker (George Clooney_, a previous visitor to Tomorrowland, who years ago made a startling discovery about the future. Together, the two adventurers travel to the metropolis to uncover its mysterious secrets.

As you may expect from Disney, the special effects were pretty amazing and I was impressed with how quite morally complex topics were dealt with in a way that were both relevant and appropriate to the younger audience without the underlying message being lost. Both Clooney and Robertson really brought their characters to life and somehow made the impossible just that bit more believable.

Of course with Disney there couldn’t be anything but a happy ending, but it was bitter sweet which for me is a great way of helping older children transition from fairytales to action packed adventures.

Tomorroland is out now at cinemas nationwide.

Swimming: it’s one of those life skills that once you learn you never really forget – it’s a big part of our lives I’m a really strong swimmer and Boo’s had lessons since she was six months old. When I look back at some of my fondest memories of childhood it normally involved swimming of some sort.

Boo is like the chameleon of swimming costumes, she has bikinis, Disney swimsuits, surfer girl style – you name it she’s probably worn it in water. However when it comes to me I like to keep my swimwear separate: pretty bikinis and swimsuits for holiday but when it comes to pool swimming it’s all about the fit.

Despite my obvious boobage I’ve always preferred to wear a Speedo classic muscleback – for me the fit is unrivaled and allows for the perfect stroke which lets face it, is what cracking out fifty lengths is all about. Swimming is my go to when I need to clear my head and focus.

I was really surprised to discover that House of Fraser Swimwear not only stock Speedo but have a fantastic range with all the latest styles as part of the their swimwear section. Now I know I said it’s all about the fit but hey come on it has to look good as you really want to make the most of it seeing as you’re half naked first thing on a Monday morning with crazy hair – just me then? I love the all over monogram muscleback swimsuit from Speedo in black and pink as it’s a tried and tested style for me with a twist on the design making it that bit different.

New swimwear is a bit like new shoes, there’s excitement when you open it up and secretly (or not so secretly in my case) you can’t wait to test it out, it’s like being a kid all over again. So a few days later off I headed to the pool for a few lengths – I really didn’t have time for the usual fifty so I settled on thirty lengths. Did my new swimsuit make me faster or more streamlined? Probably not but there’s nothing better than swimming with a smile on your face – although remembering to breath is still pretty vital!
