Boo Turns One

Forget the opening ceremony of the Olympics the last week of July saw Boo turn the grand old age of one!

Despite the supposed worldwide shortage of Helium the house was filled with balloons ready for the birthday girl to have a fabulous day, and I can assure you that between the cake and the mountain of presents sent by Grandma she did just that.

Yet after the laughter and the birthday outfit – Stella McCartney of course – came bedtime with Boo being only too happy to oblige; it really is exhausting opening all those birthday cards!

Just like the day of her birth it was a beautiful evening which got me into the reflecting mood: One whole year since we said an early and unexpected hello to our beautiful Boo. From the early days in neonatal and my first true proud mummy moment when she learnt to root!

Nowadays proud mummy moments are a daily occurrence with stair climbing being her latest accomplishment ( although my accomplishment will come when we’ve finally installed a stair gate to thwart her perilous wooden hill mountaineering!)

A lot has happened, and it can sometimes feel like a one long blur, to think that colic consumed our life and now I struggle to even remember how long Boo had it for. Staring down at our tiny bundle in hospital all I could say through my tears was Hello and it’s something that I’ve carried on; everyday I say Hello to Boo as everything is new and if you look at it, I was getting to know her – a year on and I can safely say I know her as well as I know myself.

Reflection time over, I’ve got a one year old to go and have some fun adventures with!
